Mr Kaeser, we were born in the same year. 1957. When I was a young woman and wanted to travel, I was told that the world would always be there. There was no rush. How times have changed for the youth of today and tomorrow.
In the four and a half years my husband and I have been operating two boats in the Whitsundays in the Great Barrier Reef, entire bays full of coral and fish have been wiped out by Cyclone Debbie – one of the strongest cyclones we’ve ever experienced. Cyclones are getting stronger and more intense because of climate change. Weiterlesen

Dear Sirs and madams, Dear managing board and supervisory board,
My name is Khadja Bedati, I speak for the Sahrawi Youth and the Association of ethical shareholders.
This is not the first time that I criticize Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy’s wind turbines in the Moroccan-occupied Western Sahara, which were erected without the consent of the Sahrawi people. Last year, Mr Kaeser, you referred me to Siemens Gamesa and promised answers that I have not yet received. I am asking you for those answers today, you cannot continue to hide behind your subsidiary, in which you are the majority shareholder with a 67% stake. Weiterlesen

Regarding Agenda Item 3: To ratify the acts of the members of the Managing Board
Ratification of the acts of the members of the Managing Board shall be denied.
Rationale:
The Managing Board of Siemens AG is not sufficiently fulfilling its responsibility with regard to developing more effective climate protection measures. Measures to date are not sufficient to make a contribution towards reaching the goals of the Paris Agreement or the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development to which Siemens AG is committed.
Australia: Participation in the Adani Mine contradicts previous climate protection promises
The decision to supply rail signaling technology for the planned Adani coal mine in Australia is an example of the lack of awareness for the problems associated with participating in climate damaging projects. Weiterlesen

45 NGOs from around the world stand by our friends in Russia. Stop the criminalisation of human rights and environment defenders!
Ecodefense is one of the oldest environmental groups in Russia, founded in 1989 in Kaliningrad. It works in various regions of Russia including Moscow, Kaliningrad and Siberia (Kuzbass) and has already successfully stopped nuclear power plants and coal mines.
In 2014 the Russian government officially labeled Ecodefense as a “foreign agent”, because the organisation convinced a number of investors from Europe not to invest in a nuclear plant near Kaliningrad, which stopped the plant’s construction in mid-2013.
The Russian Ministry of Justice initiated 28 legal (administrative) cases against Ecodefense for non-compliance with the law, leading to fines totaling Euro 30,000, which the organization did not pay until now. Weiterlesen

Ladies and Gentlemen, Dear Management Board and Supervisory Board,
My name is Khadja Bedati, I speak for the Saharawi Youth and Ethical Shareholders Germany.
Last year, at the Annual General Meeting, I raised the issue of the cement factory in the Moroccan-occupied areas of Western Sahara.
It is commendable, Dr. Scheifele, that you are in favour of a peaceful and consensual solution to the Western Sahara conflict. You have acknowledged that Ciments du Maroc has built two grinding plants in the area whose international legal status has not been clarified, and that a referendum on this very issue is still pending. Good morning and thank you for the opportunity to participate in your AGM. I am Johannes Seoka, former Bishop of the Anglican Church in Diocese of Pretoria in the Anglican Church of South Africa for 18 years. I am here representing and speaking on behalf of the Plough Back the Fruits Campaign constituted by South African, European and British network.
Last year Mr Bock cynically asked me not to come back this year. In fact, this is the major reason of being here today. I must say that though I was offended by his attitude, I decided to be forgiving and to be optimistic about our relationship for the sake of those who have entrusted me with the responsibility to speak on their behalf. Good afternoon. My name is Daniel Selwyn and I’m here to represent the London-based Marikana Solidarity Collective, which includes London Mining Network, War on Want, the Pan-Afrikan Society Community Forum, the Marikana Miners Solidarity Campaign, and the collective Decolonising Environmentalism of which I am a member. Before I ask some questions about your primary platinum supplier Lonmin, I would like to pay my respects to Bishop Jo Seoka and Andries Nkome here today, who have been such tireless advocates for the Marikana community, as well as to those who cannot be here with us today: from the women of Sikhala Sonke and those left widowed by the massacre, to the mineworkers injured, illegally arrested and still imprisoned, to the millions of Africans who been murdered for the accumulation of profit over centuries. Notorious mining company Sibanye-Stillwater wants to take over Lonmin
Threat of massive job losses exacerbates precarious living conditions in Marikana
International Campaign calls on BASF to agree steps to improve living and working conditions across its supply chain
At BASF’s Annual General Meeting on May 3 in Mannheim, the South African-European campaign Plough Back the Fruits will condemn the German chemical company for neglecting human rights in its business relations with South Africa.
Almost seven years after the Marikana Massacre, where over a hundred miners were shot by the police, killing 34, working and living conditions remain unacceptable at Lonmin, BASF’s most important platinum supplier. Weiterlesen
